Clothes Show Live 2014 - The Stalls

So this year of course being a brummie and this being on my doorstep, I popped down to the Clothes Show Live at the NEC. I've been over the past 3/4 times now and have cemented my opinion it all if I'm honest (which you can read at the end.)

Clothes Show Live

I was very grateful this year to be given a media pass which gave me access to pretty much anywhere which was fun as I got to chat to makeup artists, dressers, designers and celebs alike. Also as I got there extremely early I enjoyed quite the leisurely stroll around all the stalls to get my bearings before the inevitable storm of people flooded in.

Now the rest of this post is image heavy as it's pretty much a walk through of each of the shopping areas and catwalks. If you have never been this will give you an idea of what is there and also the great places to visit - my top tips for next year are the Saks pamper area, Ciate nail bar and if you're blonde the Touch of Silver stall as all three were fab!!

I think I am echoing alot of regular visitors thoughts here in saying that I was disappointed in the overall offerings. For the most part the stalls have descended into a market place atmosphere with people shouting offers and it has become seeming well, cheap. I know for the most part the show is about getting a good fashion deal but the reality is there is a huge gap between the low market prices and the designer section that is on offer. The quality on alot of the clothing on offer is also extremely poor and this year I was most disappointed to see that the more alternative and start-up brands were tiny and hidden away - I aware brands pay for space so this is partly due to that but I think the overall layout could have lended itself more to promote new talent. I think for me to much emphasis has been placed on z-list celeb brands and space fillers rather than quality brands with great products of offer. I am a firm believer that fashion should be aspirational and make you feel great of which none of what I saw this year did that for me -  I bought not one item of clothing :(

The hair and beauty sections did seem better and have more quality on offer but still they could benefit from having more space to customers aren't queuing for long periods and being squished in the process.

I may be the wrong age demographic for the show now so I don't know if I would go again to the Birmingham Clothes Show. I did speak to some of the brands who prefer the London show and who spoke highly of it so I may try that one before giving up all together.

The Fashion Show however was hands down the best it's ever been with the dancers and model being amazing - I have to say the whole set up, music, layout etc was phenomenal and it was worth going to the Clothes Show just for that. I have a separate post on the show tomorrow as it was that good!

Do you go this year? What did you think?
